Hi Ralph

It is standard practice to configure the requirements using the time eval schema and T510S. Not through additional programming.

The schema rules and config tables are adequate in most situations. If required you may create custom tables and custom operations/functions.

Using user exits to generate wage types, etc., is not a recommended way.

Beyond that it is the decision of an implementer.

Best of luck!
Regards, JG

Subject: CATS Approval - Need Custom Functionality - User Exit? Enhancement Point?

> Our company implemented SAP back in 2001 and, except for upgrading to ECC6, have not changed the way we do things - including CATS time entry and CATS approval. We do not use ESS. We use the regular SAP GUI. We use a slightly-modified version of transaction CAPS for time approval. My question centers around other approval options that might now be available that would allow us to insert custom functionality within the approval process. Salaried employees - up to a certain level - are entitled to paid overtime after they have worked 5 hours of unpaid OT for the week. Because there are exceptions in various business units in the company, it is difficult for us to add edits within the CATS user exits to accomplish this. The next best thing would be to add functionality in the approval process such that whenever the approver attempts to approve an overtime record and the 5 hours of unpaid OT hours have not been entered by the employee, the approver would get a pop-up message
warning him of the situation. He could then choose not to approve the OT or continue. So, I would appreciate any information of potential methods of handling this situation.
