Thanks guys!

In my single stack systems( ECC in unix oracle) , we do once a month file system ( which includes /usr/sap , oracle executables) backup , and full online database brbackup on the daily basis. Recovery procedure has been tested many times on these single stacks.

In dual stacks BI systems (unix ,oracle ), we do daily online and the weekend offline
brbackups. We backup /usr/sap and oracle executables once in a month or so. We don't use NWDI and all development is getting done in ABAP system only.

In dual stack PI ( sqlserver 2008 , windows 2008) , should I do the database and /usr/sap backup together? Also to backup /usr/sap , is it recommended to shutdown and sap and the database?
