This is because you already released the PO and then printed it. The system understands that this PO is already issued and completed. So you have to make changes in the PO in order to unrelease it.

how does your vendor get your purchase order? Is it sent once the PO is
saved and released.
SAP is saying that because it already has an output, you cannot change the
release now..
