I know it sounds crazy and I was against this process too in the beginning, but it is a business requirement. Unfortunately, we are dealing with manufacturing that is restricted by the fresh raw materials arriving in the morning and they might not get the amount they planned. They manufacture on the day and ship out in the afternoon. Availability check when placing orders is against planned independent requirements not confirmed planned/production orders. If the production is short and they cannot deliver the amount they originally promised they want to be able to share around to all their customers so that no-one is left out...
