First, Have you asked in SAP-LOG-SD? We are programmers and we can give you
a programming solution, but that is the last thing you want to try. That is
for when you have exhausted every other possibility. If you have in fact
exhausted them, please let us know all of the possibilities you've tried,
and we can suggest some programming options. Yes, there are several.

Hello All,
We're just starting to explore using partner functions in ME21n. When I
create a test PO, my OA and PI partners pop-up in the selection box(es) just
fine based on what I entered in the vendor master (partner tab).
I find it strange that SAP allows the PO creator to select a NEW vendor
partner number (for either OA or PI) EVEN IF the new vendor number was not
specified (by me) on the vendor master partners tab! So, in theory, if the
user doesn't understand the impact of the PI partner, they just might
accidentally or unknowingly look up and pick a vendor number that will
default in the Partner tab (in ME21n) and will be saved by the system as
valid.
Has anyone else run into this? My security folks say there is no ready
authorization object that will prevent this. I have tried a validation rule
on the field "partner number", but you cannot really get granular as to
which user can pick which partner type on a document. I have not seen any
screen configuration either in SPRO to grey out the entire partner tab in
ME21n.
