Whenever people see an error message indicating that a period is not open,
they immediately blame the accountants. However, there is a period control
present in the MM/PP area that controls postings of material movements.
This is the focus of the responses that are telling you to look at MMPV.
The two signs present that point to there are: 1. this is a goods receipt
involving a material and 2. the message indicates that only two periods are
open for posting. In the MM/PP area, only two periods are allowed to be
open (in FI. this is essentially unlimited).
So, go talk to the manufacturing folks and smile at their embarassment.
