RE:[sap-basis] Reg : license for using java engine

thanks all fro your response . correct me if i am wrong . so to install java engine as add on over the existing abap stack , no cost is involved for additional license , but i need to apply a valid license (Key) after installing java add on .
currently our ECC is running on ABAP stack . its been on live for more than 4 years .
in the above scenario , does the addition of java stack as add on over abap will result in any overwriting of any existing configuration or is ther any risk of losing data ?
in case if java installaation is failure will it be possible for me to recover to ABAP only mode using full offline backup ?
