[sap-hr] Run Payroll twice for the same payroll period

Dear Payroll Gurus,
We are going to make some major changes in production. We intend to make a system backup before applying these changes. The payroll is originally scheduled to run after these changes are applied. As the payroll is so critical that we cannot afford to delay, the proposal is to run the actual payroll before the backup. If everything goes well, there will be another actual run after the backup. If not, we will use the payroll which was run before the backup.
My question is can we run ACTUAL payroll twice for the same payroll period? What is the impact of doing so? Also, is there any other alternatives in such scenario?
Appreciate any advise on this. Thanks.
