Payroll posting in mode P is not possible without payroll exit.
Check in pcp0 or cross check in released document fb03.
Moving to your issue while payroll exit you got an error message. It's very
generic before exit there is program related to payroll status in which you
have to tick mark the payroll correction check box and execute.
There is no need to do a payroll posting again.
A case where you did double posting in live mode the second one will act as a
claims. So if the document is still not posted then delete it or else you
need to do reverse posting.
However, I suggest you to clearly check the issue in cipe by enabling the
log. There can be a different cases.

I think you cannot run posting (with P) without exiting control record (PA03).
Check your document. Maybe it is simulation version.
