I think I would use work orders and bill of materials.

Basically you may have on stock:
- Pallets of 4 differents pairs of baskets (one article)
- Basket no1 (one article)
- Basket no2 (one article)
- Basket no3 (one article)
- Basket no4 (one article)

BOM no1:
Pallet
- Basket no1 (component)
- Basket no2 (component)
- Basket no3 (component)
- Basket no4 (component)

BOM no2:
Basket no1
- Pallet (component)
- Basket no2 (product)
- Basket no3 (product)
- Basket no4 (product)

BOM no3:
Basket no2
- Pallet (component)
- Basket no1 (product)
- Basket no3 (product)
- Basket no4 (product)

BOM no4:
Basket no3
- Pallet (component)
- Basket no1 (product)
- Basket no2 (product)
- Basket no4 (product)

BOM no5:
Basket no4
- Pallet (component)
- Basket no1 (product)
- Basket no2 (product)
- Basket no3 (product)

That way:

Step one you have only pallets on stock.
One customer orders basket no2
One work order for basket 2 is generated.
You execute all the movements related.

=> Basket no2 (good entry 262)
- Pallet (component) (good issue 261)
- Basket no1 (product) (good entry 262)
- Basket no3 (product) (good entry 262)
- Basket no4 (product) (good entry 262)

At the end you have on stock basket 1 2 3 and 4, and no more pallet.

you deliver basket 2.

Pallet destroyed is physically marked as destroyed if you keep it that way (any red tag on the box or something warning not full anymore).

If you want to recompose a pallet, you can just execute a work order for BOM1.
It will remove 4 different pairs of baskets from stock, and add one Pallet.

Uncomplete pallets are on stock with basket articles only.

Subject: Logistics of multiple Articles nested in 1 carton, (baskets of different sizes nested, each sold separately)

With multiple Articles nested in 1 carton, (baskets of different sizes nested, each sold separately), how do you handle pcking in thew warehouse?

We store multiple of such carton on a pallet. So e.g. each pallet has 4 pcs of each SKU. If picking of smaller SKU (packed inside) is generated, boxes are opened and picked. If it is for the outer most (largest basket) being picked, then we have a problem storing smaller ones as there is just one packing carton.

Is there a standard practice to repack in retail warehouse? Or is there an SAP solution for this?
