Obviously you are in process industry, earlier I thought to ask.
But even in discrete we buy things in kg, litres, meters. Are u changing kg to gms (deci-deca change within the same UOM) OR is it change from quantity to weight etc. (Which may make sense in cost reduction - Taul ka Hisaab etc.)
