Hi Snowy,

Unfortunately yes.

Do you have any ideas how to deal with that?

And what about dats/tims field. the Database has fields declared as date and time but only date is included.

Is it possible to receive this field as char and convert it to date within BI?

thanks in advance for any advice.

bye crunny

Subject: Issue connecting MS SQL via UD Connect in SAP BW 7

Hello everyone,

Hope so is still taking care of this thread because I have a similar issue and I need some input and advices.
We are on BI 7 patch 701.
Approach is to extract a view from a ms sql db.
We have already created a new users belonging to the group of the db owner "dbo" of the ms sql db.
The java engine is configured from our SAP Basis to connect to the MS SQL DB.
Here the key facts:
Running a smooth connection test from SAP BI based on the RFC settings done in SM59 and in the java engine is successful.
But creating a DS and entering the UDC Source object (= name of view) the error appears saying:

UDCADAPTERROR::RSSDK|200|Cannot open the connection

Going 2 steps back. I tried to run the URL to check if the connection is fine, but even this was not working:
URL:
:54000/TestJDBC_Web/TestJDBCPage .jsp]http://[xxxxx]:54000/TestJDBC_Web/TestJDBCPag e.jsp
"Could not connect to database. Connection is inactive or does not support JBDC. "
Attached at the end: the complete message.
My general questions are,
- is the connection test in BI only checking the connection between BI and the Jave engine?
- And which system is not supporting JDBC, BI or MS SQL?
- And of course which is much more helpful what to do here?
Thanks in advance for your hints which are really appreciated.
bye crunny.
