My organization is currently running ECC 6.0 and has various groups utilizing different methods of time recording. We have negative time people recording self time through Portal CATS, negative time recording directly into SAP CATS, and we have positive time people that utilize biometric clocks which integrate with SAP CATS.
Prior to implementing the clock integration with SAP; we utilized one of the fields in IT0050 for a purpose other than intended. We actually utilized the mandatory field Subsystem grouping = P0050 - BDEGR for the purpose of storing a cost item that would be read by a custom program and written to the time sheet for the employee. We also maintain the Time rec. id; which is the same number as the personnel number.
When it came time to implementing the integration with IT0050 for our biometric clock group; we did not experience any issues with the data we are storing on BDEGR field. We just applied a filter on the sub system grouping to exclude the group from the mini-master download to the clock application database. We do not use time events, strictly CATS and have not experienced any unwanted issues.
However; if you still are uncertain maybe you can use Additional Time ID = P0007 - KZTIM or create a custom InfoType to store the custom group indicator.

Hello All,
I need a better justification from any one of you in this situation how I can propose strongly to the mgmt for a deferred solution against using IT0050 in negative time management just for the purpose of differentiating employees who use Portal CATS for recording absences and who do not by using the field "Access control group = P0050-ZANBE".
Now that I feel using IT0050 can be very much confusing and can be avoided for other good reasons like Rule groups or Time Admin grouping in IT1 which can serve the purpose.
Because of IT0050 we got to maintain dummy Time Rec Id's which is a mandatory field in this infotype. Apart from this, is there anything I can point out as a complication we may foresee with IT0050 as we are also planning to upgrade form ECC5.0 to 6 in next couple of years.
Put your expert views here if this is any conflict with STD time evaluation process, or impacting any unwanted IT's like 2011, any future complications, what could be a better of way of doing this or if you do not see any problems with this.
